Ari is a hereditary witch tending an Old Place — sacred land that channels the world's magic. Around her, inquisitors are murdering witches across the countryside, and in the hidden realm of Tir Alainn the Fae are watching their roads disappear, stranding entire clans. The two crises are connected in ways neither humans nor Fae yet understand.

Ari is stubborn, self-sufficient, and shaped by generations of women who tended the land before her. She is lonely without being self-pitying, and her kindness to those who have wronged her is a source of strength rather than weakness. Her journey from isolated witch to pivotal anchor of the world's magic is quietly moving.

Over three books, the alliance between witches, Fae, and mortal barons grows from suspicion to desperate solidarity as the Inquisitor's campaign expands into open war. Themes of feminine power, sacrifice, and the interdependence of nature and magic run throughout, culminating in an epic confrontation at the House of Gaian.
