After surviving a fatal bear attack on his Montana ranch, Lucas awakens in a brutal new world where every inhabitant possesses beastkin instincts. Unlocking the rare power of the ultimate apex predator—a werebear—he saves a helpless village from its tyrannical alpha. To protect the innocent prey species around him, Lucas sets out to carve a new kingdom out of the savage wilderness.

Lucas combines a grounded, hard-working Montana rancher's ethos with a sense of primal chivalry and justice. Driven by protective instincts for his wives and followers, he relies on direct strength rather than overly complex strategy. He is a fierce, uncompromising ruler who refuses to yield in the face of corrupt power.

What starts as a local fight for survival escalates into a world-spanning campaign against oppressive warlords and human anti-shifter propaganda. As Lucas unites snow leopards, deerfolk, and other shifter species under his banner, he faces escalating threats from elite magic-users. His arc culminates in a bloody, full-frontal assault on King Tulvum's palace to claim the final throne and secure peace for beastkind.
