Hank Baker is an ordinary man from New Jersey who finds himself blessed — and burdened — by the Moon Goddess of Lupercalia, a medieval fantasy kingdom of werewolves, knights, and magic. As Her chosen champion, Hank can shapeshift into a werewolf, a power no common human possesses, and is tasked with hunting monsters, recovering sacred treasures, and defending the realm. Crucially, he can travel freely between New Jersey and Lupercalia, grounding the fantasy in a fun real-world contrast.

Hank is unpretentious, practical, and good-humored — he approaches an impossible situation with refreshing common sense rather than angst. He's protective of his women and his adopted kingdom, and his outsider perspective on Lupercalia gives the series much of its charm and light comedy.

Across five books Hank climbs from untested Questing Knight to Knight of the Realm, uncovering a vast vampiric conspiracy that threatens to blot out the Moon Goddess forever. His journey balances dungeon-clearing quests and epic boss fights with the comedic logistics of running a business back in New Jersey, building a loyal harem of companions, and earning the respect of a kingdom that had no reason to trust an outsider.
