Description
The Long Price Quartet is an epic fantasy series revolving around the city-state of Saraykeht, its reliance on captive spirits called andat, and the ever-present threat of the Galtish Empire. The series begins with a Galtish plot to eliminate Saraykeht's powerful andat by assassinating its poet-sorcerer, Heshai. Otah, a laborer, inadvertently discovers the plot and becomes the city's only hope.
Later, Otah returns to his family's ruling house in Machi amidst political turmoil, assassinations, and Galtish alliances threatening its downfall. Otah finds himself accused of murder, caught within political machinations and betrayal. The story expands further as the Galts launch a full-scale war against the Khaiem, finding a way to neutralize the andat. Years after a devastating war, efforts toward forming peaceful alliances are threatened by the emergence of new, dangerous andat.
