After two decades of service as a city guard, forty-year-old Cid Dawnshield trades his pension for a rundown plot at Oak Tree Farm in the quiet village of Haven. Hoping for easy days tending crops alongside his old warhorse, Cid quickly discovers that Haven is no ordinary farming town and his fields conceal magical secrets. With the help of local tavern keeper Maggie, Cid must restore his land while unraveling the mysteries buried beneath the soil.

Cid Dawnshield is a pragmatic, weary forty-year-old veteran guard who wants nothing more than honest hard work and quiet solitude. Though stubborn and slow to forgive deception, his deep sense of responsibility drives him to protect those who rely on him. Over time, his gruff exterior softens as he embraces his roles as a farmer, leader, and devoted partner.

As Cid settles into retirement, the peaceful illusion of Haven shatters to reveal a town filled with retired Mage Knights and hidden mana caverns. When necromancers and undead armies target the region, Cid is appointed constable and forced back into martial service to protect his community. Across the trilogy, his story evolves from solitary farming to town defense, culminating in a battle for his future and a hard-won wedding.
