On her twenty-fifth birthday, Libby Jones inherits a Chelsea mansion worth millions from parents she never knew. But the house at 16 Cheyne Walk holds a history: twenty-five years ago, police arrived to find a healthy infant, three dead adults in black, and four missing children. As Libby is drawn toward her inheritance, others have been waiting for exactly this moment — and the collision of their stories will reveal what really happened in that house.

Libby Jones is the emotional anchor of the first book — ordinary, optimistic, and entirely unprepared for what her inheritance reveals. The series gives voice to multiple perspectives, particularly the children who escaped Cheyne Walk and grew up shaped by what they survived there. Henry and Lucy are the most haunting: wry, unreliable, and carrying wounds that thirty years have not healed.

Across two books, the story moves from the mystery of what happened at Cheyne Walk to the long aftershocks still rippling through the survivors' lives. The dual timeline structure — past and present interwoven — gradually reveals the psychological horror of the cult that took hold of the house. The second book widens the cast and geography, following characters across London, France, and beyond as cold-case evidence surfaces and old secrets demand to be settled.
