Three characters navigate the chaos — Logen Ninefingers, a legendary barbarian trying to leave his bloody past behind; Jezal dan Luthar, a self-serving nobleman craving glory; and Inquisitor Glokta, a crippled torturer who was once the Union's greatest swordsman.
