The year is 2352, and interstellar trade has revived the romance of the Age of Sail aboard solar clippers crossing the Deep Dark. Ishmael Horatio Wang, suddenly alone after his mother's death, takes the lowest-ranked position on the SC Lois McKendrick just to survive. What he finds is a crew that becomes family, a calling he never imagined, and a future worth building—one quarter share at a time.

Ishmael Horatio Wang is one of science fiction's most quietly remarkable protagonists—not a hero in the conventional sense but a young man of genuine kindness, fierce curiosity, and uncommon emotional intelligence who earns everything he achieves. He is not perfect, but he is exceptionally real, and watching him grow across six books is immensely satisfying.

Across six books, Ishmael's journey tracks from novice crew member to captain to ship-owner, spanning decades of growth, loss, and leadership. The series is deliberately anti-epic: no aliens to fight, no galaxy to save—just the deeply human challenges of building a career, earning loyalty, and becoming someone worth following. Themes of community, mentorship, coffee, and the quiet dignity of competent work run through every page.
