Unsouled Lindon, born without the ability to practice the sacred arts, defies his fate and seeks power to save his homeland after witnessing a vision of approaching doom. As he progresses, he becomes a Soulsmith, crafting weapons from souls while facing new enemies and finding mentors.

He must rapidly master the sacred arts or face a powerful opponent. This quest leads him and his companion to the Blackflame Empire, where they struggle to learn an ancient power. Later imprisoned as a Blackflame, he may be forced to join the Skysworn, protectors of the Empire. He then ventures into Ghostwater, a dangerous, damaged world, seeking treasures and improving his skills, as other forces are looking for him.
