The Rebellion won, but the galaxy remains fractured. Grand Admiral Thrawn—cold, calculating, and unlike any Imperial commander before him—has gathered the remnants of the Imperial Fleet and set them on a collision course with the newborn New Republic. Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo face not a monster but a chess grandmaster who studies his enemies' art to predict their every move.

Grand Admiral Thrawn is the trilogy's magnetic center—disciplined, respectful of his crew, and terrifyingly effective. Mara Jade is the breakout character: razor-sharp, morally complex, and driven by a compulsion she genuinely hates. Luke, Leia, Han, and the entire original-trilogy cast are rendered with voice-perfect authenticity.

Across three books, Thrawn's campaign grows from skirmish to full galactic siege, while a new threat emerges in the dark Jedi C'baoth and the enigmatic imperial agent Mara Jade wrestles with a dying emperor's final command to kill Luke Skywalker. The trilogy expands the Star Wars universe with military strategy, political intrigue among smugglers, and a new Jedi legacy. It ends with a resolution both satisfying and elegiac.
