Gus, a former soldier seeking a quiet life after a chaotic experience involving a trigger-happy contractor, a zealous rookie detective, and an Elven sorceress who views killing as routine, finds his stable, non-life about to be upended.

After being fired for exposing corruption during his last adventure, Gus has no job and even more people to take care of, leaving him scrambling to find a solution. He decides to embrace his past as "The Hunter," a legendary and feared figure in the Paranormal world, and use his skills to make things work.

However, despite his efforts to return to normalcy, Gus is thrust back into danger. A new problem arises, complicating what is left of his life while his past and what he was avoiding unexpectedly rises up to meet him head on.
