Description

Fifteen years after a devastating war left both the Galt Empire and the Khaiem infertile, the Khaiem emperor seeks a marriage alliance to forge a peaceful future.

Hope for a new generation rests on this union, but old wounds and forbidden powers threaten the fragile truce. Maati, a guilt-ridden poet, defies tradition to train female poets and restore the lost magic of the "andat," aided by the emperor's daughter, Eiah.

Meanwhile, Vanjit, consumed by grief, births a new andat, but its power brings only destruction, crippling all it touches. As peace crumbles and Vanjit's creation spreads terror, Maati and Eiah race against time to stop her, before both nations are consumed. The future of both the Galts and the Khaiem hangs in the balance.
